PAN DE LIMON CON SEMILLAS DE AMAPOLA

Joan Valent is one of the great composers of Spanish cinema, with titles as “Las brujas
de Zuga-rramurdi”, “El bar”, “Bidman”, “Más negro que la noche”, “Messi”, “El rey de La
Habana”, “Musarañas”, “Mi gran noche”…). “Pan de limón con semillas de amapola”
is the first collaboration with the great Spanish filmmaker Benito Zambrano (“Intemperie”,
“Solas”, “La voz dormida”...). It is a film that explains the relationship of two
very different sisters, one has decided to dedicate her life to cooperation and lives in
Africa, the other lives in Mallorca.They will meet again, to discover some secrets of
their family.
Benito Zambrano highlighted the role of the composer Joan Valent, who has created
a dis-creet and elegant soundtrack, which does not emphasize, but rather helps to
achieve the right emo-tion at all times. And he does it with few elements, through
simple and pleasant music. The composer has sought the musical color that the film
needs using few instruments and with soft and enveloping melodies. It is a music of a
delicate beauty, which is enjoyed from the first to the last theme.
